With favourable wind directions, you will fly over The Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, 48 000 hectares of pristine countryside, little changed since early hominids learned to walk upright - just 20 minutes drive from Johannesburg’s northern suburbs. An area of world significance with over 40 species of game, including rhino. The anthropological, historical and geological interest and importance will be highlighted during the flight. The area includes, amongst others, The Cradle Game Reserve, John Nash Game Reserve, the Rhino and Lion Park and the Sterkfontein Caves.

 

View the area where significant ancient fossil discoveries have raised intriguing questions about the origins of humankind, from mankind’s original form of flight – the hot air balloon.

Situated in the heart of the Crocodile River Valley, just 20 minutes from Johannesburg's Northern suburbs, Toadbury Hall is our most romantic, luxurious and gentle hot air ballooning adventure. 

If you live out of town, spoil yourself, stay the night!
Following the finest five star Table d'hote cuisine and a luxurious overnight stay, stroll down to the launch site for your pre-flight briefing over a hot drink, watch the rigging and hot inflation, then take to the skies in the company of the rising sun. The flight lasts approximately one hour, followed by landing, recovery and a sumptuous champagne breakfast in Toadbury Hall’s spectacular gardens (weather permitting). Children over 12 are welcome.

Book in from 2pm, explore Toadbury Hall's beautiful grounds and picnic spots then head for the intimate dining room for a delicious three course table d'hote dinner. Spend the night in one of Toadbury Hall's 10 luxury rooms then meet us at the River Venue the following morning for your hot air balloon flight. We return to Toadbury Hall after the flight for their magnificent champagne breakfast.

CLARENS



CLARENS – A Mountain Odyssey viewed from a Hot Air Balloon

One of the most scenic, romantic and exhilarating ballooning adventure in South Africa!

 

We fly from Clarens on request, with a minimum of 4 passengers per flight (bookings may come from any source). Make your own way to Clarens to one of our selected lodges, where you will overnight. In the morning you meet us at the launch site for pre-flight briefing over hot drinks, watch the balloon rigging and hot inflation, and enjoy the adventure of a lifetime. Hot air balloon flights last between 45 minutes and 1 hour, given favourable winds and recovery. We then return to The Cranford Inn for the best buffet breakfast in the Freestate!
